LoP: Dangerous Situations (18+)

The Ladies of Power bring up the dark, dark sides of fandom. The sides that most people try to ignore. Their hope is that through education they can help fellow geeks make wiser decisions and better assist their peers. Discussion includes cyber bullying, harassment through video game chats (including SWAT-ing), sexuall harassment, assault, rape, and racism. Suggestions are put out what people can do to help others and avoid being a useless bystander. Many of the Ladies will be speaking from personal experiences. The floor is open as a safe space for others to offer input and speak up about any issues they may have faced.

Ladies of Power is a charity group of young women from all over North Texas. The goal is to inspire girls and women across the globe to tackle obstacles and stand up for their beliefs. They do projects to raise money to help women and children, such as the organization that funds girls in third world countries to go to school. The Ladies attend many conventions to talk about the issues many people face, especially women and minorities, in the geek social spaces with the hope to raise awareness and make things better for future generations.
